Personal Injury law is based on the right of a person to be justly compensated for a wrongful injury to their property or their person whether in the form of a physical, mental or financial injury. Personal injury law is primarily based on the issue of a “tort” and is considered a civil wrong recognized as grounds for a lawsuit.
Torts are commonly acknowledged as harms that are derived from motor vehicle accidents, decreased or loss of income due to accidents, product failure or workplace injuries, as well as medical malpractice or negligence, legal malpractice or negligent lawsuits, slander and libel laws. Assault and battery, trespass, invasion of privacy, defamation, fraud, international infliction of emotional distress also fall into this category. Misconduct by a tortfeasor can result in recoverable damages including both present and future losses of earning capacity, pain and suffering and reasonable medical expenses.
